About me
Alex Martínez is a musician and composer born in October 21st 1985 in Barquisimeto, Lara, known in the other states of Venezuela as the music capital of the country. He studied music in the Vicente Emilio Sojo institute in his city and in 2004 he started learning to play the harp. He plays every music genre, being particularly prominent in Rock, Folk, Jazz, World Music and Electronic Music.
He plays all kinds of music on the harp, standing out in Rock, Folk, Jazz and Electronic. In 2012 she participated in the International Festival of Llanera Music, the Silbón de Oro, obtaining 2nd Place as Best Harpist and 2nd Place as Best Ensemble. She has toured in Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Italy and Canada.
He has achieved national and international recognition for playing with 2 Harps and has been included in the Metallica 40th Anniversary documentary program.

In 2012 participated in the International Festival of Venezuelan Country music “El silbon de Oro”, obtaining 2nd place as best
harp player and 2nd place as best group. In 2015 he played solo with Mexico’s Symphonic Orchestra in Mexico City, and represented Venezuela in the biggest Harp Festival in the World: The Rio Harp Festival, in Brazil.
In 2016, Lara state , gave him the distinction of Folklore representative of the year. Also, in 2019, he created a new music genre, “Jorockpo”, where he mixes rock classics with joropo. With his version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”, he won the Best shorts competition festival in California back in 2021. In 2022 he won 3 awards in his first ever participation in Venezuela’s biggest award competition, The Pepsi Music Awards
